The menu’s map is simple, with just a few locating words hinting at the present. The timeline captures the history of the building while the overarching design brings legend to life, complementing the darkened interior that leaves no detail unmarked.

about this project
Our approach to menu design is to take a simple price list and transform it into an experience, giving diners something to savour before the drinks or food are even served. The scene is set by the interior, but the menu draws the viewer even deeper into the intoxicating romanticism of the past.
Different styles of typography (cursive, display and monospace) are curated and combined to create artwork that is not only unique and playful, but also structured and balanced.
This menu design reflects The Doss House’s historical charm, evoking a mood that is reminiscent of Sydney’s formative era.
