The logo was partially redesigned by The End Creative Agency in around 2014. The aim was to bring more of a historic, thoughtful feel to the brand. The word “UNIVERSAL” was from the previous iteration of the logo and was updated with a new design of the word “Restaurant”.

Universal Restaurant is a celebration of Italian comfort food.
The typography is clean but layered, with contrasting styles and clever compositions that hint at the restaurant’s long history. The goal was to create a brand system that can either be adventurous or calm and formal, depending on what is required at the time. This generated surreal and unexpected compositions that were made to fire curiosity. The design intends to amuse, captivate and delight, capturing the hearts of the restaurant’s patrons.
Type-wise, the identity is simple and elegant to balance the unexpected and playful nature of the photographic elements. The brand personality translates across all deliverables.
The adventurous imagery conveys that this is not your average Italian, while the restraint and refinement used in the typography echoes the quality of the food. The result is a memorable brand identity that’s recognisable and relatable.
