Our favourite magazines: Butt Magazine

Joana Gala • January 10, 2025

This might be a little controversial, but good design happens across all subjects and this magazine is a delight. The first thing that caught my eye was this beautiful pale pink that envelops all contents, print and photos.

An image of Butt magazine, created by magazine designer Jop van Bennekom, being analyzed for its innovative layout in a blog post at The End Creative Agency, a graphic design agency in Australia.

This magazine is very well designed, printed black and white on pink paper stock. I love how it is so humorous, shameless and iconic without being too pretentious, how the apparently simple printing process itself sufficient and we don’t feel the need for 4 color images or even a variety of type treatments.

The magazine designer, Jop van Bennekom, has my admiration and has launched a couple of other graphically perfect magazines worth exploring, such as Fantastic Man and Gentlewoman.
